   Steve Smith as the #10 wideout? Seriously? Are you expecting the Panther D to forget the past month and hold the Bucs to few points? Or the Buc run D to suddenly soften? Or Delhomme to have his third “I can’t remember how to throw the ball” game in the last 4?

   Because if the Panthers don’t build up a decent lead, there’s no way Smith isn’t the go-to guy, and Ronde Barber hasn’t suddenly figured out how to shut him down.

   Steve Smith is the man, but he hasn’t scored since Week 8, and TB has allowed the fourth fewest YPA (6.2) in the NFL. And I don’t expect TB to put up many points on offense.

   Who should Smith be above out of my top-9?

   In the end, this is probably quibbling. I mean, 10th is pretty high no? It’s not like you aren’t going to start him.

   Weeee, made both of my H2H playoffs with a combined record of 14-12, taking the final seeds in both!!! Hahaha, it’s a friggin’ miracle, and just desserts after last year’s debacle, I say.

   Anyway, in a league w/ a util slot, would you run Schaub over Hightower this week? Because I’m planning on doing it, I fucking hate Timmy now after the past month, and going against my buddy’s top-seeded juggernaut (Cutler/Rodgers/SJax/TJones/AJ/Jennings), I feel like I need to roll the dice a bit (my main guys are Brees/Westy/ChrJohnson/Boldin/Bowe). I think I like Schaub’s top end a whole lot more. OTOH, the Lambs are a pretty dishy matchup. Hard call–looks like they’re pretty proximate in the rankings, but even with 4pt pass tds, I gotta go Schaub, right?

   Ya I’d go Schaub. His floor is much higher. Hightower could go off, but he could also lay an egg.

   Smith didn’t score twice last week because he got stopped at the 1 each time on bombs. Unless one thinks that’s going to be a regular occurence, not all that relevant. Stats don’t tell the whole story.

   As far as who in the 9 you have ahead I’d take him over:

   – Reggie Wayne – Yes, it’s Cincy at home, but how much throwing do you think they’ll need to do? He also hasn’t had a TD in a month, and has only 6 catches in his past two games.

   – Brandon Marshall – KC’s D is really bad, but again, no TDs in a month, either. With Hillis breaking out and LJ showing up again, seems possible either or both teams try to slow the pace down and run a lot.

   – Dwayne Bowe – See Marshall, with the added caveats that Denver is one of the worst against TEs (Gonzalez gets more targets) and that the league appears to be catching up to Thigpen.

   Now that I think about it, though, I’d probably rank Moss ahead of Smith for this week.

   splevelbuge – I had Lynch too low I agree. In hindsight, he should be above Hightower for sure, toward the bottom of tier 1. Lots of other good RB matchups tho this week, and Miami is solid against the run.

   jdb – Appreciate the banter. Again, no one is going to bench Smith this week. Good point about him being stopped at the one last week. He’s a stud, elite WR1 that’s an automatic start weekly. I just think there are some WRs with very, very good matchups this week. His is pretty tough, although Delhomme plays way better at home.

   I could go Kevin Smith or McClain, or get Sammy Morris off the wire. Slim pickins, who would you play?

    Yep, it was Schaub already, 29 to 11 over that fraud Hightower in our format. Friggin’ awesome–last team in @ the #4 seed, but I’m pounding the living shit out of our #1 team 155-102. We do two weeks per round, so he’s still got a chance to come back, but I doubt it could happen. Schaub, you’re a legend for me now.
