MVP Voting

By Dalton Del Don

I’ve gone over why I think Philip Rivers should be this year’s MVP ad nauseam, so I won’t rehash that here. Peyton Manning would be my second choice anyway, so he’s not some egregious pick as winner, but make no mistake, his name and past performance clouded judgment here.

But how does Michael Turner finish ahead of Matt Ryan?

In what planet did Adrian Peterson have a better season than DeAngelo Williams? All Williams did was lead the NFL in touchdowns and finish second in YPC (5.5). Peterson fumbled nine times. Williams none. You won’t find a bigger AD fan than myself, but this is a player who is a liability on third downs.

Drew Brees ties for the NFL lead in TD passes (34), gets 8.0 YPA, nearly breaks the league’s long standing yardage record while taking just 13 sacks and doesn’t get one single vote?

What do you guys think? Who was your vote? Who got shafted? Can you possibly defend this lunacy?

Forget AP. In what universe does Christ Johnson get a vote and Williams doesn’t?

(Of course, I’d hold that both Delhomme and Smith are more valuable than Williams to the Panthers, but the whole “valuable” thing is a load of hooey as much as I’m concerned…)

Er, *Chris* Johnson. I’d suppose Christ Johnson would be deserving of the award. :p

Great points. Not only should Williams have easily gotten a vote over C. Johnson (who I like), but S. Smith should have as well.
