Bet on It

By Dalton Del Don – Senior Writer

I went 8-6 last week to bring my overall record to 26-31-5. My best bet, the Dolphins, lost, so I’m 2-2 in that regard. My colleague Chris Liss over at RotoWire went 12-2 ATS, and he was 12-1 entering Monday night. Pretty crazy. At this point of the season, it’s time to throw out preconceived notions about last year that you had entering this one; the Browns aren’t a doormat. The Chargers and Ravens aren’t elite teams. The Falcons are better than their record and Vegas give them credit for. The Titans are Super Bowl contenders. The Lions may actually be better than most realize. Onto the Week 5 picks:

Cardinals -3.5 at Rams

Falcons +8 at Titans

Panthers +3 at Saints (Best Bet)

Browns +17 at Patriots

Lions +3.5 at Redskins

Jaguars -2 at Chiefs

Dolphins +5.5 at Texans

Jets +3.5 at Giants

Seahawks +6 at Steelers

Buccaneers +10 at Colts

Ravens -3 at 49ers

Chargers +1 at Broncos

Bears +3 at Packers

Cowboys -10 at Bills

Comments: The Saints are close to ranking dead last in the NFL in offense and defense and lost both times they faced the Panthers last season. Still, that information isn’t enough to sway my David Carr bias, and coming off a bye, New Orleans’ entire season is essentially on the line. Back the Saints, who are more desperate.

I’m torn between my mediocre-at-best flex options for my PPR league: Ward, Norwood and Stecker; only decent WR on the wire is your boy, the just-dropped Roddy White (I’d have to drop one of the 3 above to grab him; Vince Young, Ocho Cinco and S-Jax are the other guys on my bench), and I guess Booker isn’t half-bad as well (Wynn’s the best RB available, unless Shanahan decides to use Andre Hall a lot). Thoughts?

I will do cartwheels if the Yanks get swept…then I just hope the team buses for the Red Sox and Angels hit each other head on.

I’d drop Stecker and start Roddy White. Ward is limited and Jacobs is back. Norwood’s touches are iffy and Tenn has a tough interior line. White and that ATL passing attack is really coming along. It’s not the best matchup, but that’s what I’d do.

Well, 20 games over .500 (41-21) with KRITTER’S STRAIGHT PICKS, here we go again!

    Titans over Falcons
Texans over Dolphins (That Ginn pick looks better every week…)
    Jaguars over Chiefs
    Cardinals over Rams
    Patriots over Browns
    Panthers over Saints
    Giants over Jets
Steelers over Seahawks (Game of the week in my opinion)
    Lions over Redskins
    Colts over Buccaneers
    Chargers over Donkeys (Broncos)
    Ravens over 49ers
    Packers over Bears
    Cowboys over Bills

Hey Kritter! Long time no see. Hope you still like your membership.

Bills will handle the Cowboys easily. Watch out for Marshawn Lynch.

He is going to drop a deuce on everyone. 2 TDs.

I hope u are right Tawni, I have him on my fantasy team, and need a big day from him to win this week, oh by the way, I’m 11-2 so far on my picks, if only I was betting on these picks each week, oh well.

I need Romo + Witten to outscore TO by 24 points…decent chance to happen, right?

Especially rough is that Owens had his worst game of the year last week and loves the MNF spotlight. Good luck.

Yeah, a repeat of last week would be perfect…but I think Romo knows letting that happen to TO two weeks in arow would probably be the beginning of the end.

I did grab Rowdy Roddy White for Stecker, but that damn Mark Clayton is in my doghouse now for sure (actually, my waiver wire). I grabbed Wynn and Warner (trade bait), since VY didn’t help his trade value with that stinker. Crayton comes off waivers tomorrow, so I’m curious to see how he follows up his huge game as I’ll need another WR next week with Wayne and Calvin Johnson (thanks for the stinker) on byes.
