I generally agree, but there are a few that strike me as odd, so I’ll focus on those for discussion’s sake: Maroney at #3 AND Dillon at #6? How does that work? Has Miami really been that bad against the rush? I just can’t see enough carries to make them both top-10 backs. I’m also not sure about Bush being that high, just since he hasn’t really had a big game yet, but he’s got to break out soon. I’m also surprised Frye didn’t make the top-20 QB’s; don’t get me wrong, I don’t think he’s a top option, but to have Alex Smith, Leinart, Culpepper, Rivers, Walter, heck even big Ben on there? Frye looked pretty good against the Ravens, and the Panthers D hasn’t been anywhere near as good as advertised. I have to say that Tatum Bell at 25 seems a little low too. He does have a terrible matchup, but I think I’d feel a lot better starting him over Edge, Caddy, Jamal, Fragile Freddy, Foster, Bush, etc.

It’ll be very interesting to see how the new/young/rooke QB’s do this week, as their performances will impact a lot of RB’s and receivers.

Keith – Jeff did the rankings this week, so I can’t speak for him, and I’m sure he’ll want to chime in as well, but I agree it will be tough for both Dillon and Maroney to be top-6 backs this week. However, Maroney put up big numbers last week on limited touches against a defense that had been playing better than Mia, and I could easily see NE run the ball around 35 times this week.

Regarding Bush. Yeah, it’d be nice if he found the end zone soon, and he’s being used more as a decoy than his owners would like, but TB is ranked 24th against the run and has already played Balt, who can’t run on anyone, meaning those numbers might be even worse.

I have to agree with you on Bell and Frye. While some of Frye’s rushing TDs have padded his stats, he should continue to pile up the rushing yards and like you said, Carolina’s Pass D has been pretty terrible so far. He makes a fine start this week.

Keith, you have some very valid points, but I am not a Frye believer just yet. He did have a solid game versus Baltimore, but I think Carolina wll generate a better pass rush this week.

As far as Bell is concerned, he is the man in Denver, and as a Bell owner I’d be happy to see him continue to carry the load. That being said, I just don’t see him getting as many carries versus Baltimore. As far as Foster is concerned, I think he will have a nice day against a team that surrendered 200 rushing yards to Oakland.

Hey guys, not to get all gushy, but I love your site…keep up the good work! Anyway, I think Addai is big this week, possibly a top-5 RB start. I know he’s splitting time and all, but teams are starting to force Indy to run (the Jets did) and Tenn can’t stop anyone anyway, plus Indy should have a huge lead all day.

Hey thanks bro…Also, as an Addai owner, I’m counting on your prognostication.

The RB rankings are tough this week…and I’m having a very hard time setting my lineup in my shallow, yardage-heavy league (2pts/10yards, no PPR). I’m sitting Caddy until he shows me a good game, even though the NO matchup looks good. I’m scared of Edge facing 9 man fronts, but leading the league in looks already, he’s probably going to get it 30 times. I’ve also got J. Jones against Philly, T. Jones who’s finally looking good, Bell who’s got a brutal matchup against the Ravens (even though the Chargers put up good yards on the ground last week), and Maroney. I’m worried about the Pats passing more this week since the Dolphins front-7 has looked good, but the secondary suspect. I just have a hard time starting him over guys I’m really confident will get the ball 20+ times, even though he looked really, really good last week. Right now, I’ve got J. Jones (it looks like Philly can be run on) and Edge in there, but I’ve changed it about 4 times already…any thoughts?

    Go A’s!

First off, congratulations on assembling a ridiculously loaded squad, it doesn’t get much better than that – this is def. a good problem to have. My main advice to you for this situation is to go with the 2 guys YOU think are best, as it’s better to win/lose with the players your own instinct told you to go with opposed to us or any other “experts” out there.

Especially matchups as close as this, your going to get different opinions from everyone (even on this here site, I’m sure Jeff, Robby and I would all go with a different combo). Here’s my 2 cents: Agreed, you gotta sit Caddy until he shows something, especially with those other options at hand. I like Edge b/c of the yardage heavy league, but he’d be even better if it were PPR, but you’re right about him likely to receive the most looks of all (his involvement should actually increase w/ Leinart at the helm). While I could see J. Jones having some holes open with Philly concentrating hard on stopping T.O., Marion Barber’s presence and goal-line pilfering means Jones wouldn’t be my choice. Def. sit Bell against Balt., your other options are too good. I like Maroney a lot, but I hear you on your worries about going with sure touches over the hope of big plays.

I personally would go with Thomas Jones and Edge James (w/ Maroney being my 3rd choice), but like I said, my main advice is go with your own gut, b/c these are basically coin flips.

Don’t worry, I won’t sabotage the site if I take your advice and lose! I felt really good about having such a “stacked” team, but I’m 1-3, mainly because Edge, Caddy, and R. Moss have killed me…Cooley too. T. Jones has been tempting me to start him, especially after last week and the fact that teams are going to have to start respecting Mr. Grossman. If I didn’t want other people’s advice, I wouldn’t visit your site as often as I do…thanks, and keep it up!

You won’t be under .500 for long with that squad, trust me….Exactly, teams are going to have to start respecting Grossman, and Jones’ YPC will start to increase as a result. Hopefully, that starts this week. Glad we can help, and keep on visiting Keith. How bout the A’s, by the way. Now all we need is one more Tigers’ W.

I was at the A’s game, it was awesome! The only problem is that I bought my ALDS tickets with the assumption it would be the Yankees advancing…I keep forgetting nothing goes according to plan in the playoffs!

I need to turn some of those excess RB’s into WR’s…as I’ve got Moss & Boldin, with Moss such a bust and Boldin having a rookie throwing to him now, I’m very worried…especially since I can only play 2 RB’s at a time. I’ve been making plays for Holt and S. Smith, but haven’t had any luck, but T.O.’s owner likes Vick and T. Jones…I might try and make something happen there, but the idea of having T.O. and Moss on the same team terrifies me!

Nice. Do you have any tix for the ALCS? Looks like you won’t be seeing the Yanks again, if you do. Much rather face Det. anyway.

Yeah def. try to upgrade your WR position will all those excess RBs…He won’t do Moss/T. Jones for Owens will he? Do you have a capable replacement for Vick?

Going off your rankings it looks like I should sit Berrian and start Williamson, Bryant and Boldin but the last 3 weeks I have sat Berrian and he has outperformed everyone that I have started.

Do I really sit Berrian tomorrow???

  13. RotoScoop Avatar
    RotoScoop

tv – you can’t go wrong here, as I really like all of your WR options….Berrian has been unreal, no doubt; still, he has the toughest matchup of the group and gets targeted the least, meaning you’ll need a big play for production. Obviously, he’s been the best deep threat in all of football so far, so he has been able to make it happen frequently.

Still, I agree with Jeff on this one. I’d recommend Williamson (trust me, Det. pass D is one of the very worst, hopefully they don’t insist on giving Chester Taylor 35 carries once they get a lead), Antonio Bryant (he’s due after two quiet weeks and Oakland minus Fabian Washington is the perfect remedy), and Boldin. Yes, he plays a tough secondary (Ty Law looks to be back) and Leinart is QBing, but still, I think it would be too tough to bench him.

  14. tv Avatar
    tv

Pretty disappointing week for my wide outs. I ended up sitting Berrian and he almost had 150 yards receiving and 2 scores. He still ended up putting up the best numbers and of course it is always good when those numbers are riding pine.

A few ramblings: 1. Williamson is done. If I dont drop him this week he certainly wont be starting unless it is an emergency. I didnt get to watch the game on tv but I did watch it on gamecenter and it seems as if Johnson isnt even looking for him. I guess dropping half the passes that land in your hands has that effect on your qb’s trust in you.

    2. Leinert looked a lot better than I thought he would. I figured he would need at least 3 weeks before he was worthy of starting. That pass to Boldin was pretty sweet. It might have saved my week if I get a decent showing from Baltimore’s offense against Denver’s defense tomorrow night. I just hope Leinert doesnt have a man crush for Bryant though it is safe to say that Fitzgerald owners have to be pretty scared after this game.

    3. Dillon’s days look done. If Belliboy is using Maroney when they are worried about the game on the line that is as big of an indictment on Dillon’s chances to have a big game again as any.

    4. Alexander better come back soon!

    5. McNabb is the ONLY reason I have any hope of winning this week. He has single handedly carried me so far. I never draft qb’s early but when he was there in the 7th round I figured I had to go for it. It makes up for drafting Williams instead of Maroney (stupid me not handcuffing old man Dillon earlier than later) and passing up Coles for Jones (awfully dumb listening to the experts).

    6. I need to start a fantasy blog. If I post while watching the games it would be for some good reading! lol

    7. My wife thinks Im the oddest duck in the world cheering more for the Eagles long bombs and sacks of Bledsoe (playing him this week) than for the laugher of a game the Bears had (I was holding my head in my hands most of the first 3 quarters). 😉

TV – Good stuff…Feel free to comment under whatever the newest post is, so others don’t miss out. In fact, you can go ahead and copy and paste this one if you want…We appreciate your interest/joining in…..First off, let me apologize for the Berrian suggestion…I know what you’re talking about, he was one-half step away from another long score…It’s time to start thinking of him as an every week starter, regardless of opponent. While it sucks to have guys like that on your bench, it’s definitely encouraging from here on out, as it looks like you have yourself a stud….Again tho, sorry for the poor advice. Like you said, Williamson just isn’t getting it done. Against Det, I certainly thought he would. He now has ZERO TDs over his last 17 games. And who woulda thought Battle gets the TDs over Bryant.

Leinart already looked like an upgrade over Warner. Not sure if the O-line actually blocked better for him, but it certainly looked that way. But ya, that pass to Boldin was unreal.

Couldn’t agree with you more on both Dillon and Alexander’s accounts…McNabb is the NFL’s MVP so far, period……you passed up Coles for which Jones?

I have Chicago D and hated watching them give up that gimme late TD.

    Thanks for the response.

I took Matt Jones in the 6th round and Coles went three picks later. I really expected Jones to have a break out year but he has looked pretty average even when he was healthy. Hopefully the 2 weeks off will help him but Reggie Williams looks like the guy in Jacksonville.

Ya I figured it was Matt. I still think he can be valuable this year, but the previously-viewed draft bust Reggie Williams is definitely surprising.
