Ok, so help me out here DDD: is there any way I can feel better about the Bucks losing Parker for the season?

I guess I’m not overly concerned about his long-term outlook, ACLs are pretty routine at this point and young players appear to bounce back especially well from the procedure, but at the same time, having shelled out for League Pass, and having really enjoyed following the team to this point after such an extended sojourn in the wilderness, I can’t help but be seriously bummed, all the more so as I had planned on making following the Bucks a core component of my winter diversions, and the damn thing doesn’t even begin until Sunday.

I know we weren’t going anywhere in a playoff series against the Bulls or Cavs or Raptors or whatnot, but it’s still depressing. I try to tell myself maybe it’ll be for the best, with some luck we’ll slide back into the lotto and have a better chance of getting the extra piece we still need (and which we will never, ever, ever acquire in FA), but given the strength of our bench and the endless debacle that is the East, I suspect Kidd still gets the team in, perhaps in the #6-8 range.

Where, of course, we’ll promptly get smoked in the 1st round, just like we’ve been doing for ages. Is there some silver lining I’m missing here, however scant? Give a down and out hoops fan some means of consolation, ’tis the season and all that shit. 😛

It sucks man. Brutal to see the future of your franchise suffer a torn knee. Just awful, and I feel for you.

But there’s SOME consolation to this. I mean, the worst thing to be in the NBA these days is a constant 5-8 seed, which is obviously much easier to achieve in the EAST. The Bucks have a much better chance to have a higher draft pick now. And as much as this sucks right now, that could pay off huge down the road.

This may also sound harsh, but a “slight” ACL tear sure is better than a torn Achilles or a serious broken ankle/leg like Paul George. I’m pretty confident Parker will return 100%. And again, while his lack of experience will hurt, this might actually benefit a team like the Bucks (which you rightfully mention has trouble attracting free agents) long term. Of course, that still sucks for fans who’ll have to wait years to see this possible fruition.
