Bet On It

By Dalton Del Don

Last week I went 6-7, once again losing my best bet after jumping out to a huge lead (17-0). I’m 37-38-2 so far this year. Best bet is 1-3-1. Onto the Week 6 picks:

PANTHERS +3.5 at Falcons

49ers +4 at Lions

Colts +7 at BENGALS

EAGLES -1 at Redskins

Rams +15 at PACKERS

Jaguars +12.5 at STEELERS

Bills +3 at GIANTS

Browns +7 at RAIDERS

TEXANS +8 at Ravens

SAINTS -4.5 at Buccaneers

COWBOYS +7 at Patriots

Vikings +2.5 at BEARS (Best Bet)

Dolphins +7.5 at JETS

Comments: I hate taking nine favorites, but I’m not switching any single game just because of that fact. I must admit though, I worry I’ve switched from my previous strategy to going more “obvious” picks here, and not worrying about the public vs. sharps angle. I’ve clearly made a conscious choice to ignore the latter with these picks. Also, two people I respect think the Bears line is one of the worst/craziest ever, and while I made them my best bet, I’m kind of on the fence there. And to be fair, I’ll give my teaser of the week – Raiders and Jets.

10 team, 2 QB league, 3-4 WR league (.5 ppr) – I have Romo, Newton, Bradford and Dalton at QB and Fitzgerald, L. Moore, Crabtree and Little at WR (clearly need help). I was offered Santonio Holmes for Bradford straight up. Thoughts?

You wouldn’t start Bradford in a typical week as his output doesn’t have a prayer of approaching Romo’s or Newton’s at this point. Holmes would instantly be your 2nd best WR in a 3-4 WR league, so, every-week start, obviously. Romo’s through his bye and Newton and Red Rifle have different off weeks. So, basically, you’d be dealing one week of Bradford (on Newton’s Wk 9 bye) for 10 or 11 games of WR2 output from Holmes. Seems pretty open and shut, really. Hard to see Bradford fetching anything more given the small nature of the league and the fact the Rams have been so incompetent. If it’s a dynasty, maybe you think twice as Bradford could be worth a lot in a 2-QB format, but if it’s redraft, I’d take the gift and not look back.

CP3, baby (no, not Chris Paul)!

I can’t wait ’til his authentic jersey is available on the Chinese bootleg site.

Harley – I agree with Dreamweapon.

Flying Spaghetti Monster – Haha. I actually like the Palmer trade for the Raiders (obviously it’s a win for the Bengals no matter what, well unless they blow two draft picks but at cost control that would still mean not much), but that’s a silly way of evaluating trades. I applaud their willingness to be aggressive.

Speaking of trading, how dumb is it that MLB teams can trade GMs, but not draft picks?

    Pretty damn silly.
