So is Boldin so low because of injury concerns, or anything else?
Seriously, where is the love for Percy Harvin? He should be higher for excitement factor alone.

That doesn’t seem low for Boldin to me, and I love the guy as much as any fantasy owner/fan alive (old threads are probably filled with my praise for him). He’s the highest rated of any guy who functions as a #2 on his real life, and he’s on the second tier with the rest of the other non-“big 4” studs, so according to this there isn’t a huge amount separating him from #5. Being seen as more or less equal to a guy like Steve Smith sounds pretty good to me.

As good as he is, that’s all the higher anyone can safely rank him. He plays too hard, too physical, and tends to get himself nicked up–the health risk is real and ever-present. That said, the gulf b/t the 2nd and 3rd tiers is pretty huge in my mind (and I completely agree with the line of demarcation here), and as a DeSean Jackson owner I would jump at the chance to upgrade him to Boldin, and would happily throw in a guy like Donald Brown to grease the skids.

Donald – Dreamweapon summed it up pretty well. There isn’t a huge difference among any of the WRs in that tier 2, and there is a pretty decent drop off afterward. I love Boldin the player (he scored 10 touchdowns over his first seven games last season!). But the injury concerns are a very real concern, hence the bottom of the upside tier.

Harvin is interesting, especially if they give him carries. He’s def. going to be exciting to watch, to be sure.

Where do you bump Welker to in a PPR league? top 10?

Ya, you could bump him up that high. Probably at the end of tier two, specifically.

JUST CANT GET ON BOARD WITH CALVIN OVER FITZY… THOUGH I AM REALLY HIGH ON “MEGATRON” AND BELEIVE HE WILL RESIDE AT THE TOP OF THE WR LATTER SOON, THIS YEAR IS JUST…TOO SOON. I COULD NEVER RANK A WR AS MY NUMBER ONE WHILE THE GUY WHOSE THROWING HIM THE BALL HASNT EVEN BEEN DECIDED ON YET. NOT ONLY IS FITZY A BEAST BUT HE IS AN ABSOLUTELY POLISHED ROUTE RUNNER AND HAS THE BEST HANDS IN THE GAME. WARNER IS A DEADLY ACCURATE POCKET PASSER, ON A TEAM/OFFENCE THAT HAS PROVEN ITSELF. THE CARDS ARE NOT A POWER RUNNING TEAM, THUS STRUGGLE TO PUNCH IT IN FROM SHORT YARDAGE. FITZGERELD WILL SEE A LOT OF OPPORTUNITY TO CATCH 1-5 YD TD’S ON THAT FADE ROUTE, WHERE HE LOOKS LIKE A MAN PLAYING AMONGST BOYS. BOLDEN/BRESTON ARE TOO GOOD FOR DEF’S TO JUST FOCUS IN ON LARRY… UNLIKE DETROIT, WHERE YOU CAN TRIPLE TEAM CALVIN AND LEAVE YOUR OTHER CORNER ON AN ISLAND AGAINST ANY OTHER SCRUB (NORTHCUTT/COLBERT) WR DETROIT RUNS OUT OPPOSITE CALVIN. YOU OFFER SOME GOOD INSIGHT, BUT I BELIEVE YOU MISSED ON THIS ONE.

First off, it’s likely both have seasons that are close to one another, and it’s not like I’m down on Fitzgerald. I agree he’s ridiculously good – his ability to time his jumps to reach the ball at the highest point on deep balls is the best I’ve ever seen. But again, six of his 12 TDs last year came in four games when Boldin was out. Put differently, he scored six touchdowns over 12 games when Boldin played. Now, I don’t expect that same ratio with Boldin in the lineup, and I agree he’s awesome near the goal line (and Calvin was criminally underused there last year), but I do expect Whisenhunt to run more now with Todd Haley gone and Beanie Wells providing a gigantic upgrade at RB. And I’d be shocked if Warner plays in 14+ games. That offense won’t fall off a cliff with Leinart, but Fitz will deal with a worse QB situation than he did last year, when it went perfectly.

Calvin Johnson put up very similar #s to Fitz last year = 1,331 yards, 12 TDs vs. 1,431 yards, 12 TDs. And that was his second year in the league! I just don’t want to pay for Fitzgerald’s crazy good playoff run. And why must he be #1 on everyone’s WR board? Because every site/magazine tells us so?

Calvin is #3 on my board overall.
