Can't wait.
I've held onto LaPorta since he was called up. I'm in a non-keeper league, so is it safe to drop him? I remember going through the same song and dance with Bruce until I dropped him post-ASB.

I'd prob use his spot to stream this week. I had E. Santana and Izzy tonight. F' me.

Fangraphs - it's free.

You can check each pitcher specifically for past years too.

Thanks DDD. One minor question, where do you find average velocity readings for pitchers? Current year and past. I have a few services I pay for and none carry that statistic.

Thanks again...

Also I want to let everyone know I am having issues with the site - while comments seem to be working again, it won't let me post any new articles. Yahoo is supposedly working on it, but I wrote one Monday night that I've yet to be able to use here.

You can go here to read it:

Feel free to make any comments right here afterward.

Now that's a buy-low, sell-high if I ever saw one. Beckett has definitely disappointed, and I really don't get his command regression, but my preseason views still haven't changed all that much - his K rate is strong, so is his velocity.

If A. Gonzalez's torrid start can't get you Roy Halladay in return (try for him first), then yes, I'm on board with making that swap under your circumstances.

DDD - What's your opinion on Beckett? Do you still see him as a top 10 option at SP? Would you deal AGonz for him if you needed the SP and were doing great in HR/RBI?

Appreciate the feedback...

Matt - My take on Lincecum's start against the Mets was that he didn't have his best stuff and had trouble spotting his fastball. But it's just one start, and he still had 8 Ks over 6 innings, so there's nothing to worry about.

Adam Jones has been unreal, but from this point forward, I'd still prefer Ellsbury (for this season, at least. Probably would take A. Jones over him in a keeper format). Jones is definitely due for some regression with all those strikeouts, and remember he's just 23 years old. That said, in your situation because you are loaded with SB guys, that deal makes more sense. Let me know how it works out.

Davidian - I wasn't as high on Kazmir entering the year as others (ranked him outside the top-30 SP) and was pretty surprised how high he was typically getting drafted. He walked 35 batters over 57.1 innings over the final two months last year, and most thought he was pitching hurt during the postseason (he walked 18 more over 25.2 innings there).

Of course, I never thought he'd be this bad in 2009, and while his control has always been a problem, his sinking K rate is even more worrisome. His fastball is currently averaging 89.6 mph - by far a career-low. I definitely think he'll turn it around and improve (that won't be hard), but he's probably pitching with a damaged arm, and his terrible command usually leads to short outings and therefore, fewer wins. I'm not too optimistic of some big rebound.

Dalton,

What's your take on Lincecum's start vs. the Mets? I assume your a fan of both the Giants and Lincecum.

Secondly, still trying to trade Ellsbury for a power bat. Is Adam Jones a big enough upgrade? Can he remain healthy?

Here's my team, and it's H2H. I know..lame.

C - Baker/Weiters (got him on waivers, now let's bring him up!)
1B - N. Johnson - meh
2B - Hudson
SS - Reyes
3B - Chipper
OF - Kemp, Holliday and Ellsbury
UT - Pierre
Bench - Taveras, LaPorta, Weiters

SP - Lincecum/Shields/Wainwright/Ervin/Joba/Romero/Hansen/Smoltz
RP - Capps and Francisco

Wire - Sheff/Rasmus/Reimold/Parra/Zobrist/Larish/LaRoche/Melky/Nix.

Most will argue you need (far) more data to form any park effects conclusions, but so far, the evidence is strong - the new Yankee stadium looks highly beneficial to left-handed hitters.

DDD,

Great points as always. I was doing some Damon research myself. How much do you think the new Yankees Stadium is playing a role in his increase in HR?

He's got nine already, six of which have come at home.

Over the previous two seasons, he's hit only seven and five at home.

Just a possible theory which, if true, could see him surpass the 20-25 HR plateau this year.
