Oh, we run 2-week matchups in the playoffs (4 out of 14 teams go, semis are two weeks (14-15) and finals are two weeks (16-17)), so we're at the halfway point now. I'm up 94-82 against my buddy Niles' heavily favored team (he was the regular season high scorer, I was the #4 seed), and feeling pretty damn good about my chances. I have Brees and his assault on Marino vs. a disinterested Carolina team, Westbrook in a must-win for the Iggles, Schaub vs. whoever Schaub is playing, and can cobble together the rest. I figure I'll be without Dallas Clark, which blows since he's been a beast for me the last couple of weeks, and I'm definitely not counting on Boldin either, and am even planning on sitting Chris Johnson in favor of, haha, Benson, who I picked up like two or three months ago for precisely this reason (potential Wk17 duty), but Benson does play KC at home, and I can run Hixon again, and get some joker like Heap or Martin to get by. My opponent has a suddenly sketchy Warner, a couple of likely-to-be-rested WRs (Wayne and Smith), a pair of badly nicked-up Cowboys (Barber and Witten), as well as Big Ben, who I could also see sitting. Oh yeah, he has LenWhale too, which could possibly be a problem, but I'm not too worried. About the only guy he has who really worries me is Pierre Thomas, but I really think that's going to be Brees' show on Sunday.

12 pts is hardly insurmountable, but with the way things are aligning, I'm rather optimistic. This would be a big deal for me, in addition to actually really needing the cash, I hadn't even made the playoffs the last couple of years and was beginning to despise FFL (at least vis-a-vis baseball), especially after absurdly falling short last season with the highest scoring team in league history.

Nat - What can you do? Football is easily the least fair of all the fantasy sports. Frustrating to say the least.

Just watched Slumdog last Friday - I've been getting some negative feedback, and although the ending is silly, I actually really liked it. Def. need to see Milk and Nixon as well. Also, I'm strangely really intrigued by Gran Torino. Can't wait to hear Clint grunt all his lines. I heard Seven Pounds is the worst movie of the year, for whatever that's worth.

Well, in no small way did this blog get me back to the finals. But despite putting up 120 points this past weekend, I got steamrolled by a team with MJD, Rivers, Deangelo, Colston, and Gonzalez. Oh and Forte tonight. What a beat down.

Movies to see: Slumdog Millionaire, Milk, Frost/Nixon. I can't figure out if I'm intrigued by Seven Pounds or just don't care. I'm sure there's more - I just haven't been too enthused.

Patrick - Obviously my ranking shows Cutler, but to get more in depth, none are obviously bad choices. While I consider Rivers a legit MVP candidate who's had a fantastic year, his matchup worries me the most. So this comes down to the other 3 to me, and all are close enough for me to say go with your own gut. I like Thigpen's ability to run, but his passing yards (and YPA) have def. lacked. Still, at home and against a beatable (although improved) Mia secondary, he's a solid option.

Schaub is the man - I've been an apologist all year. My one worry is Slaton going nuts. Whereas Denver will throw more, and has a slightly better (on paper) matchup. Though the weather in Denver is in question. I say Cutler is due for a rebound and has the best matchup, but this isn't a no-brainer.

Your RBs I ranked 6-8 - doesn't get more close than that.

Same with Bowe and R. Moss (9, 10). Comes down to personal prefernece. Any added suggestions are welcome from the crowd.

ok. i'm in the championship game. who do you think i should start at qb out of thigpen, schaub, cutler and rivers. i am thinking of going with thigpen with schaub a second choice. what do you all think? i can only play 1 of them.
also, at running back, who should i start out of steve jackson, matt forte, kevin smith, and tashard choice. i have 2 spots for that.
one more...at receiver, should i go with moss or bowe for the third spot along with andre johnson and marshall?
thanks!

For me, it's easily Hixon. Over the last four weeks his targets have been 8,9,9,11.

Although weather is a factor there too.

Yeah, speaking of that particular game, I've got a red-alert situation of my own with Boldin. I have Breaston as well so I could just wait until gametime, but currently have ZERO other WR alternatives besides those two to run alongside Bowe this week, so I may be looking at a gaping hole in my lineup. Fortunately my opponent has Warner, so it won't be a total loss overall.....but I'm thinking I need to get another option onto my bench in case it looks like a complete whiteout at noon.

Here are my crappy FA options:
-Hixon (Questionable, Giants' game weather apparently bad as well)
-Avant (ick)
-Somebody named Johnnie Lee Higgins (who?)
-Stokley
-Jenkins
-Some crappy monosyllabic Vikes wideout (Wade, Rice)
-Bradley (terrifying)
-Any non-Evans Bills receiver (Reed, Parrish)

If any of these guys manage to top 5 points it'll be a friggin' miracle, but that's where I am....I just have no idea which pipe dream to run with.

Am I nuts to consider Shaun Hill over Warner? I'm very worried about Warner this week, in the snow with those gloves!
