Quick question: I’m in a PPR league (.5 PPR, 1 pt per 10 yards receiving or rushing, decimals allowed). Let’s assume Marion Barber plays Sunday. Would you start him or Dunn?

Granted, I’ll probably wind up starting Dunn anyway because the Cowboys play Sunday night and I won’t have any other options, but I’m curious about others’ opinion. And playing Forte and Thomas already makes the dropoff either way a lot easier to swallow…

Well, I just barely made it into the semi finals, and now have to throw up my worst lineup of the season. I need to play two of the following players while going against the #1 team in my league. Any quick advice anyone has would be great.
    1. Morris Morris. I am leaning towards starting him, even though he probably only gets a dozen carries.
    2. Josh Cribbs. Leaning towards starting him. We award 1 pt per 25 return yards, and he might get up to 10 snaps at QB. Yeah, its a hail mary.
    3. Bernard berian. Leaning towards benching him due to T Jackson.
    4. Cotchery. Leaning towards benching him because he just stinks.

    jdb:
I have Marion as well, and am preying he starts. I picked up NYG Steve Smith who I can throw in if need be. TB certainly seems intent on giving carries to caddy, so I would count on a split there. I would lean towards rolling the dice with marion, but it is certainly risky.

A preemptive strategy question: What do you think about Schaub @ Oakland for Week 16?

I have Cutler vs BUF and Thigpen vs MIA, and will probably be facing a guy with Rivers/Romo in the championship. Would you go Schaub over either of them?

Nevermind, I’m now seeing how decent the Raiders are against the pass.

Here’s the stuff sleepless nights are made out of: Derrick Ward or Jon Stewart Sunday? (Assuming that Jacobs doesn’t even board the team plane.)

Who would you start from this group? I need to start 4 players from it….

    Boldin (obvious)
    Ward, H
    Smith, S (gmen)
    johnson, bryant
    Carlson
    Witten

League allows us to start 2 WR and 2 TE, or 3 WR and 1 TE. Interested in your take on it…. i’m leaning towards Boldin, Ward, and the 2 TE’s.

    Thanks DDD

I also have a tough decision, Stevie Ya Yo….lol @ya yo.
Either Kevin Smith or Derrick Ward….

Dalton, check this out. My semi’s matchup, I’m the No. 4 seed going against our top seed.
He has Warner, Boldin, Marshall and Andre Johnson, SJax and Chris Johnson, not to mention Tony Gonzo at TE.
I’ll try and match him with Peyton, Fitz, Steve Smith, Calvin, Slaton and Smith/Ward….w/ Owen Daniels and either Philly or Pitt D.

This weekend should be fun…good luck to you.

    The Donald:

Thanks, but I don’t have anyone else to start in his place other than Roy Williams, and I don’t think I want to go there. I think I’m just trying to talk myself into the proposition of starting my 10th round pick over my top 5 first rounder in the playoffs in a money league. Even if it is the right thing to do, man, it’s tough. 🙂

jdb – Tough call. Too bad you don’t have Tashard Choice, b/c then I’d say definitely wait (if that’s allowed). It sounds like he has a better chance to play than say Gore, but Barber will be at less than full strength, at risk of aggravating it at any point and has a tough matchup. I’d probably play it safe and go with Dunn. Atl has given up 4.9 YPC this year, which is the third worst in football.

Donald – Mo Morris for sure. After that, it comes down to Cotchery/Berrian for me (although admittedly I might be off on Cribbs’ value since I don’t play in any return yardage league and don’t follow the stat). As you see above, I have Berrian just one spot ahead of Cotchery, which is pretty crazy. I think I’ll stand by that – Cotchery is due to bounce back, but that game be feature the Jets being run heavy, whereas Minny is going to have to throw to keep up with the amount of points Zona puts up. Jackson def. hurts Berrian’s prospects downfield, but at least he looked good last week (albeit vs. Detroit). Zona has given up 27 passing TDs this year – by far the most in the NFL.

Nat – I’m thinking Cutler over Schaub next week.

  13. RotoScoop Avatar
    RotoScoop

Stevie Ya Yo – That’s tough. My best advice is I see Ward having a higher floor, yet Stewart the higher ceiling. B/c of the matchups, I’d probably roll with Stewart.

    RotoScoop

Billingsley – Boldin and Witten for sure. After that, I’d go with Carlson and B. Johnson. But as you can seen above, I have Johnson just one spot ahead of Ward, so it’s extremely close. Ward might be a little safer him being so esatblished and all, but Balt is a brutal matchup, whereas SF will be throwing a lot against a suspect Miami secondary, especially without Gore.

As always, I advise everyone to ultimately go with your own gut – better to lose that way than by using someone else’s.

Matt – Should be a high-scoring week in your matchup. I’d lean toward K. Smith, but I do like D. Ward and that running game quite a bit. I’d definitely start Philly D over Pitt D this week. Good luck to you too.

Thanks Dalton… let me know if you start any baseball leagues this year… always looking for good competition!

No problem. I actually do think I’ll start up a RotoScoop Invitational baseball league this year.

Thanks. While there is no way I will ever start Cotchery, I will have to ponder Bernard Berrian. The matchup is very enticing. Although I am still trying to figure out how to value the ten or so snaps at QB that Cribbs should get.

It seems as though i am not the only person here who wants this Marion barber situation cleared up as soon as possible.

As good as I feel about my RB’s in the Rotoscoop league (Westbrook, Chris Johnson, DeAngelo Williams, and Jacobs…not the healthiest squad but a pretty damn high ceiling), my WR’s just make me sick. Hines Ward, Housh, Cotchery, Eddie Royal, Bess…nobody at all who is a must start, nobody who I’m even comfortable starting really. Ugh. Hopefully I pick the least-bad of the group, and Gates comes out of his coma. I think I’m starting Hill over Thigpen at QB…sounds like there will be a lot of win, and it certainly makes the 49ers games more fun.

  22. RotoScoop Avatar
    RotoScoop

We’ll see how much room is available – I’d say the football guys get first preference, but I’ll try to get you in Kritter.

  23. RotoScoop Avatar
    RotoScoop

Keith – That’s not crazy at all going with S. Hill over Thigpen. It’s a close call to begin with, and now the wind factor makes it an even easier call for you. Plus, your a 9er fan. With Gore and Addai out, I will say I think your RB options are slightly better than mine this week. But only slightly.

So, apparently there are supposed to be 25mph winds at Arrowhead tomorrow for Chiefs-Chargers. Ugh.

I’ve already pulled the plug on Gates in the one league where I own him (I was probably going to anyway, he’s a turd and I somehow got Daniels off waivers), but in my home league, I have Bowe as my 2nd receiver behind Boldin. I’m seriously considering pulling him for Breaston…..is this insane? I had Housh earlier in the season for that insanely windy Cincy game, and that was a miserable experience, I’d hate to replicate it in the semi-finals. I guess I should note that we run 2-week playoffs there, and I already have a 51 pt lead, but my opponent’s team is stacked, I’d hate to give anything away. I know Bowe has the ceiling, but given the conditions, doesn’t he also have the floor? I could see Bowe’s range as something like 2-20, whereas Breaston’s is more like 5-8. Hmmm. Any thoughts are greatly appreciated.

    RotoScoop

Dreamweapon – I agree with your assessment, Breaston probably becomes the safer play b/c of the windy conditions in KC. That said, I’d personally stick with Bowe, but it’s definitely debatable.

Well, at 3:55 I removed Marion Barber from my flex, and inserted Bernard Berrian. Even with that 20 point swing, I am down 10 and pretty much need a Josh Cribbs TD tonight.
