By Dalton Del Don
Last week I went 6-8-2, bringing my season total to 118-99-7. The Cowboys had no problem with the Giants, improving my best bet record to 9-4-2. I struggled with this week for the most part and once again sided with too many favorites for my liking. While the Giants’ offense has become easier to defend without Plaxico Burress, it seems like a good opportunity to buy low here and sell high on Carolina. The Giants still defend the run well, so the Panthers may have to rely on the pass more than usual, and Jake Delhomme has gotten just 6.5 YPA with a 3:7 TD:INT ratio while on the road this season. Back the G-Men.
Colts -6.5 at Jaguars
Ravens +4 at Cowboys
Bengals +3 at Browns
Saints -7 at Lions
Dolphins -4 at Chiefs
Cardinals +8.5 at Patriots
49ers -5.5 at Rams
Steelers -1.5 at Titans
Chargers +3.5 at Buccaneers
Bills +7.5 at Broncos
Texans -7.5 at Raiders
Jets -5 at Seahawks
Falcons +3 at Vikings
Eagles -5 at Redskins
Panthers +3 at Giants (best bet)
Packers +4 at Bears
Second straight week my best bet inclination was the opposite of yours (I originally had the Panthers based on the Giants struggling offense and the 3.5 pts.). I learned from last week though. Not going to make that my best bet. We agreed on a lot of other picks this week. Any you felt more strongly about than others?
Leaning toward Houston or Philly but I don’t like the weather forecast for the Philly game.
Also hate making a round team my best bet. Argh.
Thought I would re-post my picks
Week 16 Picks
Colts -6
Cowboys -4
Titans +2
Dolphins -4
Cardinals +8
Bengals +3
Eagles -5
Rams +5.5
Falcons +3.5 stone cold lock
Saints -7
Panthers +3
Jets -5
Texans -7 stone cold lock
Buffalo +7 stone cold lock
Bucs -3.5
Bears -4
Triple D, when you going to post your college picks? You’ve got two days.
Dalton, I have a tough choice coming up at the flex position. I know you haven’t done your rankings yet, but who would you feel safe going with in the championship: Lance Moore, T.J. Houshmandzadeh, Darren McFadden or Jamal Lewis?
We count return yards, it’s .5 per reception, eight rushing yards is a point and a rushing touchdown is eight points compared to six for a receiving touchdown…my cuz is an idiot for these settings.
Thanks in advance.
RotoFever – The other teams I like best this week are: Eagles, Steelers and Cowboys. Philly should roll. But I agree it’s better to make a home team your best bet, and weather is always a possible equalizer.
B. Wright – I haven’t filled out my college sheet yet. I need to do that tonight. Do you want me to fill in one using your posted picks and turn it in tomorrow, and you’ll give me the $20 next time I see you?
Matt – I’d go with Lance Moore. Best matchup possible and hopefully his targets will pick back up with R. Bush out. McFadden would be my 2nd choice.
DDD, thanks for all of the expert advice and great content you’ve provided here this season. Great thanks!
Almost forgot:
They’re expecting snow for the Arizona-NE game. How should owners play the game out? I own Kurt and Larry Fitzgerald in separate leagues, with M. Ryan as my backup and Lance Moore as my best option behind Fitz.
It’s a tough scenario given that both my opponents have Drew Brees, who will play inside a dome against the Washington Generals.
Lastly, does LT find the end zone this week? He’s actually not worthless in my league because we count .5 a reception.
Matt – No problem man. Glad to help.
I’d probably stick with the Zona guys, especially Fitz. I could see making the change to M. Ryan tho. The two others probably are a bit safer actually.
I doubt LT scores – TB’s run defense is tough. I’d try to bench LT if there are any decent alternatives.
DDD – I turned my college pick’em in yesterday. I am fired up for Saturday’s first bowl game. Not that the game means anything. Post your picks online when you’re done.
All right good deal. I’ll post em.
My four backs in this particular league are Pierre, LT, Jamal and McFadden….I guess Pierre and D-Mac?
McFadden comes with some risk since his touches have been so erratic, but after last week’s performance and Cable getting killed in the media all week for not using him enough, I expect him to get the ball in a plus matchup. That said, LT and Lewis are probably safer. McFadden more upside. Don’t even think about sitting Pierre.
What a brutal Jax loss ATS. Give me a break.
I gotta like that Colts win to start off my week.
Dalton, where are you picks?
I turned them in today – don’t worry. I’m an idiot and didn’t copy them first. We’ll get an email soon of everyone’s picks and I’ll post them then. Before I made some switches I did keep a record of my 34-22, which were:
USC 34
South Florida 33
Missouri 32
Central Michigan 31
Cal 30
Kansas 29
Alabama 28
Florida St. 27
Texas 26
Rutgers 25
Georgia 24
Iowa 23
Texas Tech 22
I think I might have made Florida #21, which is way against your pick. Again, I’ll repost once I get my full picks sent to me. Also, I haven’t watched one single college football game from beginning to end this year. Don’t follow the sport whatsoever. But this should still be fun. And I do plan on beating you nevertheless.

8-7 going into Monday night. I started off good until the Sunday afternoon games. 2-1 for the week on my stone cold locks. Big D, what happed? 3-12 going into Monday night? At least you won your best bet.
B. Wright – I blame you for jinxing me since you’ve started posting your picks. What a joke. Worst week ever. Oh well. It happens. It’s all about how someone does over a big sample size. Weeks like this happen (although extremely frustrating). And even my “best bet” was an extremely lucky cover to boot. Horrible way to finish the year, so I need to come correct Week 17. Anyway, you’ve been solid over the past two weeks – you should post yours all next year.
On a side yet related note, that BYU/Arizona game was a pretty big swing for us, eh???
