Bet on It

By Dalton Del Don

Last week I went 11-3, bringing my season total to 52-47-3. Of course, my best week ATS also coincided with my first “best bet” loss, but that tally still sits at 4-1-2 on the year. It’s a tough act to follow, to be sure, but here are my Week 8 picks:

Raiders +7.5 at Ravens

Cardinals +4.5 at Panthers

Buccaneers +2 at Cowboys

Redskins -8 at Lions

Bills -1.5 at Dolphins (best bet)

Rams +7 at Patriots

Chargers -3.5 at Saints

Chiefs +13 at Jets

Falcons +9 at Eagles

Browns +7 at Jaguars

Bengals +10 at Texans

Giants +3 at Steelers

Seahawks +5 at 49ers

Colts +4 at Titans

Could you explain the Dolphins best bet. I’m almost tempted to pick the Bills, wondering why that’s your biggest lock (what’s your second best bet?)

I’m buying low (Miami coming off a blowout loss) and selling high (Buff just beat SD) here. Plus, it’s in Miami. Hopefully they’ll get Jason Ferguson back, which means the Dolphins will be tough to run on. I expect Edwards to have a good game, but Pennington has played well also.

More to the point, when going ATS, you can’t overanalyze HOW it’s going to happen, or you’ll lose more often than not b/c this is an illogical league week-to-week. Right now, 80% of the public is backing Buffalo, so I’m taking Miami.

Not sure which one would be my second best, but the ones I feel better on are: Detroit, New England and Pitt.

We have a winner! Nice best-bet call, even if it’s the hated Dolphins.

Dalton, I need you to co-sign this move. After trading Lynch for Fitz – awesome, I hope! – my next move is to drop Chad Johnson for Matt Jones….my wr’s are Fitz, Calvin, Driver and Breaston…the wire wr’s include B-lloyd, Lance Moore and Matt Jones, the guy I need you to co-sign. He’ll probably get suspended, but he has some good matchups I could exploit while fighting for the playoffs.
Chad, on the other hand, has a bye next week, then Philly and Pitt back-to-back.

    Take care

I’m not against the move, but I’d probably make it L. Moore and not M. Jones. Jones is probably looking at a multiple week suspension, and Moore can thrive in that offense even when Colston gets back to old form. I’m fine with dumping Chad Johnson tho.
