I just wanted to say that all these rankings are great, and 95% spot on. This is much much better than that big board bullshit that yahoo spits out. Keep up the awesome work.

I have both EE and Gordon, and I would take EE over the rest of the year if I had to decide right now. Ex one month, and he has been monsterous.

I find it very strange to not see Chase Headley on the list of top 25 3B’s going forward.

I know his primary position is now OF, but in a fantasy perspective (and that’s what matters here), I think most call him a 3B.

Donald – Thanks man. I think I subconsciously rated EE a bit lower b/c I have him in a ton of leagues and wanted to be wrong and have him blow up. But his place in that lineup does limit RBI opportunities. But you’re right, he’s been solid so far and could blow up.

krunchyfrogg – Excellent point. Headley’s def. available at 3rd in leagues, and although I considered him an OF in my head, I usually try to rank them based on the position that would make them most valuable, and that would be 3rd over OF in this case. My bad. I’d put him in the 15-20 range.

You forgot about Fernando Tatis. The guy averages 2 grand salamis per inning…

Anxiously awaiting OF rankings. We play specifics in my primary dynasty league (LF/CF/RF plus a generalist OF), and LF, perversely, has been a huge problem for me for a couple of years (stellar CF/RF in Sizemore/Hamilton/Kemp….obviously any of them would play an awesome left, and yet I can’t slot any of them in). Was playing Gomez most of the year and was reasonably happy, but he had been flagging for a while when one of my two closers (Saito) went down, so I went ahead and dealt him for Brian Wilson to patch that problem. Now my sole LF option is Delmon Young. He’s been ok since June, but only ok–nice AVG and decent runs, but nothing else at all. I have a firm offer in place wherein I can pick up Manny Ramirez for the prospect rights to McCutchen (very valuable, allows owner to artificially maintain in league “minors” as long as he wants, and he get three free years of ownership from a call-up date of his choosing, above and beyond the standard seven keepers).

The problem is that I kind of hate Manny and don’t know if he’ll be sufficiently better than Delmon to warrant giving up a valuable chit in McCutchen’s rights. The clubhouse fights, the fines, the intentionally tanking it at the plate to send a “message” to the team, the habitual taking himself out of action for entire series at a time in September (i.e. the fantasy playoffs)…..all of this sucks ass. I could maybe deal him in the offseason and reclaim a lesser prospect, though I’m not sure. Anyway, I know you’re doing your thing in Vegas, no rush at all, but I’m sure curious to see your current thoughts on Delmon and Manny.

Manny is in decline, but he’s clearly going to be a better power source than Delmon for the next 1-2 years. And one thing to consider is the BoSox really are getting fed up with him and might cut ties at season’s end, and that would obviously lower his fantasy value a tick.

There’s no statistical evidence to suggest it, but I do still have faith in Delmon developing power. And while he’s not a head case in the ManRam sense, he’s not exactly a model citizen either. Still, I do think he has some 30/30 seasons in him. Eventually.

Bottom line, if you think you can win this year, do the deal. If not, then hang onto Delmon.
