The Bengals supposedly refuse to trade him no matter what, but that seems like cutting off their nose to spite their face to me. I can't really believe that. A deal just has to get done, and that one seems like a good return to me. Maybe they'll end up getting even more this weekend tho.

Wow, speak of the devil:

Report: Skins offered two high picks for Chad

ESPN's Chris Mortensen reports the Redskins recently offered their first-round pick in 2008 and their third-rounder in 2009 for Chad Johnson.
The third-rounder could've escalated to a first-rounder based on performance in 2009, but the Redskins were turned down. Mort says this is the first "significant proposal" Cincinnati has received for Chad. There is a chance Washington will up its offer on draft day, but the Bengals aren't budging yet.
Ya and the cap hit is being mistreated by most of the media. It's not that fiscally bad for Cincy to deal him.

I don't know why this is even an issue. The Washington Redskins have the 21st pick in the first round. They have a clear need for an elite wideout, someone with some size to compliment their munchkin corps. The Danny loves to make a big splash and hasn't done so yet this offseason.

The math seems pretty easy to me.

I agree with a lot of that assessment and it's good to not always automatically think the player is wrong and the organization is right. But Johnson's on a different radio show every time I turn the channel. And he doesn't really even have much to say. You've got to figure a trade just has to happen.

I actually feel bad for Johnson. He isn't a bad guy, really. He's certainly never been accused of being a bad teammate, unlike Owens, and he isn't mean-spirited like Moss. He's just frustrated.

Plus, am I the only one who remembers that the Bengals camp was the one putting out rumors that he was on the block for most of last season? What is their deal? They're the ones who are sick of the poor guy (for reasons we can only guess at), and are publicly trying to dump him, but now that he's on the same page with that program he's some malcontent?

That's kind of BS. Look at Corey Dillon. Look at Takeo Spikes. Look at Big Daddy Wilkinson and Carl Pickens. Why is that this one team seems to have such an inordinate number of problems with its star players? Why are they all so desperate to leave?

At some point, a trend is a trend. It's kind of like the tweaker who bitches about everyone around them, how their family sucks, their co-workers suck, their friends suck. None of it is ever on them, no, it's always everyone else. At some point, no, it's not everyone else, it's you and your behavior which is the consistent variable. To me, that's what's going on in Cincy. They have a bad owner (Mike Brown is a douche, I don't care what his ancestors did (and in fact, a lot of old-timers say Paul Brown was a dirtbag as well), the guy is a tool), their coach appears to be in totally over his head and has made horrible personnel decisions time and again. They are not progressing as a franchise.

Even rats will scramble to get off a sinking ship. I don't blame Chad at all. As far as him speaking out about Palmer's portrayal of his plans, that was fine with me too. I viewed it as more or less akin to the response some guys had to Favre when he was bitching that Javon Walker wouldn't come to camp. Players should stay out of each other's contract quarrels, nothing good can come of it, and CJ was well within his rights to tell Palmer to back off.

The thing with Church is that he's actually hitting lefties this year, so he's not even platooning. He's not going to be a huge help in HRs/SBs, but batting second in that lineup, he should approach 80 RBI and 100-110 runs.

Ya Chad Johnson is out of control right now.

I just picked up Church because of this. I dropped J rauch, as I didnt need a 3rd reliever, and he was better at home in that cavernous ball park of old, leading me to think he belongs in that group of relievers that you are not comfortable with.
I am rooting for Chad Johnson to not play football this year. I think it is about time for something like that to happen to all of these losers who shoot their mouths off and threaten to sit out.
