Take Your Pick

Often you will find two players who are being drafted typically right around the same area and have similar price tags in auctions. Maybe both will bring back close to equal value in returns. Or, the decision could make or break your season. Leave your choice and thoughts on the matter in the comments section.

J.R. Towles or Geovanny Soto?

Wow Dalton.. making this one tough on us..

The two most sought after rookie catchers.. I’d have to wait and see which is batting higher in the lineup. Both are good bets though.

from what i have read about them, i’ll give the edge to towles because he could net double digit steals. however, this is purely a guess and i have no idea how either of these guys will perform. lol.

Towles seems to be going much later, so I think he’s the better value. Both have similar upsides, but small sample sizes making projections a bit of a risky business. Soto’s performance last year was so out of the blue, that it scares me a little that it was an outlier…but it was so good, it can’t be ignored either. I think Towles offers the better value for this year.

I like them both, but rookie catchers are a crapshoot. I once paid $10 for some guy from the Rockies in my NL only league. Chris Ianetta went for $13 last year. For this year Soto should have better stats, but Towles will be a better value vs. how much cheaper you can get him.

Soto has better job security, but like Keith said, his utter lack of pedigree in the minors is worrisome. Last year’s campaign sticks out like a sore thumb, but it was also impressive at the same time.

I’ll take Towles. Should be cheaper and has 13/13 upside.
