    um, bj upton?
If you knew that Nate Mclouth were the starter, how high would you have him?
Shame on you for disrespecting Josh Hamilton!

I didn’t do any repeats in my rankings and had Upton at 2B. But he’d be in tier 1.

Mclouth would jump to around the 40ish range if he were guaranteed to start.

Hamilton has def. gone higher than this ranking in pretty much every draft I’ve been in this year, and I am well aware he could blow up. Still, his health worries me enough to temper expectations. In hindsight, he’s probably a better pick than JD Drew.

Gutty move with the ranking of Milledge. I agree that he’s likely going to be better than most of the guys ranked below him, but I see Justin Upton likely to put up similar numbers as well. I’d certainly take Justin over most of the guys ranked in his vicinity. Thoughts?

    DDD,

A great list going up to 75 hitters. impressive.

Only switch I’d make.. Swap Rios with Markakis.

Hamilton stays healthy he will lead AL Ofers in HR’s this year. Trump is right on with this. I love Markakis and own him in both of my keeper leagues but 5 seems a little high due to supporting cast.

Michael – Because J. Upton is showing a willingness to run this spring, I have no problem with moving him up to Milledge territory and drafting him aggressively. However, realize that he’s still very raw and extremely young. He might be a top-15 fantasy player in three years. But for now, I’m still tempering my expectations. Milledge is more ready.

Brett – Thanks. I actually could have moved Rios up a few slots in hindsight. Take him over the vets there. I stand by Markakis over him tho.

The Jewru – I hear ya. I hope Hamilton does. Followed his career since he was burning his own skin just for fun. And he has a terrific home park too (so was Cincy tho). I can buy this criticism and wouldn’t fault you for drafting Hamilton 10-15 spots higher.

Again, I stand by my Markakis ranking.

I object to these rankings based on the fact that Baldelli isn’t #75. I just can’t take it seriously. If that egregious error were to be corrected, I’d point out that I can’t help but feel Markakis is starting to get a little overrated. I was going to take him in the 3rd round of my dynasty league, and he went early in the 3rd. I just don’t know if his ceiling is that high. It’s certainly possible, but he’s never going to have massive power, and I don’t know if he’ll steal 20 bases or not. Again, it’s not that it’s possible, but it seems like to get positive value, he’s going to have to have this massive breakout season which considering the league and team doesn’t necessarily seem like the most likely scenario. I also think Rios is overrated, but a lot of that has to do with his age. I think Burrell has a chance to be a value this year…but I haven’t drafted him yet, so I’m not exactly backing up my own opinion; same thing with Milledge. With your Church talk, I’m surprised you put him that low…but his brain is mush right now, so I guess that isn’t exactly a plus. I’m also hoping Quentin breaks out…I think this is the 3rd year in a row I’m drafting him heavily, so I have to be right eventually, no? If Kwame Harris can make it big, so can Quentin, damnit.

HAHA. I actually had Baldelli 75, and then switched Alou last second since he’s out 6 weeks. Then I come home today and find out Baldelli’s career, and maybe life, is over. Geez. My whipping boy! I actually feel bad – poor guy. RIP Rocco Baldelli!

I hear ya about Markakis, but do you really want an old and frail Beltran (or even Vlad) over him? I agree that he does need to run tho, and that’s something he never really did until last year. Still, go re-check his post all-star break #s.

    A. Rios went from underrated to overrated. The guy has never had more than like a .860 OPS. Still, he’s plenty valuable fantasy-wise. I certainly hope Church outperforms my ranking.

I’m starting to worry about our boy Quentin. One of these years it’s going to happen, but I’m surprised he’s still dealing with shoulder soreness. You can get him really late tho.

Kwame Harris commanded a legit contract and is going to be the starting left tackle in Oaktown!

Late to the thread, and maybe I’m nuts, but I really think ppl are sleeping on Franklin Gutierrez. He appears to have a full-time job, on an elite team, and only just turned 25. If you look at the numbers he turned in last season in a mere 270 ABs, I hazard to guess this guy can pull a 30/20. Really. He strikes out too much and walks too little to be a truly top-notch option, but despite the middling AVG, I think he can have major value this year.

I agree – I should have put him on this list for sure. I overlooked him. He could be an excellent late-round buy.
