Take Your Pick

Often you will find two players who are being drafted typically right around the same area and have similar price tags in auctions. Maybe both will bring back close to equal value in returns. Or, the decision could make or break your season. Leave your choice and thoughts on the matter in the comments section.

Corey Hart, Hunter Pence, Delmon Young or Chris B. Young?

Delmon Young may have the most long term potential but I’d probably rank him behind all the others for this year alone. They’ll simply help you in steals more. I’d take Hart first.

Corey Hart.. What he did last year was go nearly 25/25 but unlike Chris Young had an AVG that didn’t kill you.

Yeah, what Todd said. I desperately wanted Hart last year but lost out on him in the draft, he’s a borderline star already. Pence I picked up out of FA and enjoyed his production greatly. His game is ugly as hell but he gets results. CBY scares the shit out of me–anyone with a batting eye and/or contact skills that sketchy is going to provide a wild ride, but it’s hard to argue with near 30/30 out of a rookie. If he can even hit .260, he’ll be a Top-50 player pretty easily, I would think.

Delmon does have the skills to eventually pull away from all these guys, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see him reel off some 40/20 campaigns in his day, and possibly compete for a MVP award or two. There are a lot of uncertainties between here and there, though, especially given his psychological volatility, and his power just isn’t there yet (and yes, I do grasp that it is somewhat hypocritical for me to punish Mauer for the same thing–just note Mauer is like three years older). If this year, I would go Hart-Pence-CBY-Delmon, in that order. Long-term, I would roll the dice and go Delmon-Hart-CBY-Pence.

Real tough. I have them all in the same OF tier. Delmon Young could take a major leap as soon as this season. But I agree, Hart is probably the No. 1 choice out of this group. Remember, he didn’t even get any PT for like the first six weeks last year.
