Sounds about right to me. This is exactly why I am not going to pay for a catcher–I’d be perfectly content with a Molina or even a Napoli, who I would personally slot into the 4th tier there, above Pierzynski.

Hell, if you have any AVG anchors at all on your staff (like a Cabrera or Pujols or Ichiro), I think a solid case can be made that an also-ran like Pierzynski, with 20-HR pop can be worth the same as an overrated lightweight like Mauer, especially in H2H leagues.

Posada is the only obviously “money” guy going back into our draft pool this year–if I don’t get him, and I definitely won’t reach to do so (making it doubtful I will), I swear I will load up on high-quality MR guys like Broxton, Bell and Betancourt before I even bother to take a catcher.

Sound rankings. I love Molina this year because of the value there & he is ending up on a lot of my teams, along with Kenji who is falling in drafts for some reason.

I think the duo with most upside is Soto & Towles and they are ranking accordingly here, but, like Salty, they are consistently going way too early.

Top 3 Jessica Alba Movies (a list that mourns here present status & celebrates the body that was):

    1. Into The Blue
    2. Honey
    3. Sin City (one great scene, but what a scene)

Dreamweapon – I’m actually going to aggressively pursuit the top-4 catchers, at least in 2-C leagues. I hear ya about Mauer’s lack of power, but I still believe. I really think he is going to bust out soon and be the most valuable of the whole group. He’s got that kind of upside.

But it’s also true that in 1C leagues, waiting may be the best method, since Molina (SF’s cleanup hitter with a .298 OBP!!!) and youngsters like Salty, Towles and Soto are all fine end-game options.

Tyler Durden – Hopefully Houston isn’t dumb and plays Towles four out of five games. I still worry tho. His SBs would be nice.

Well done with the list. It’s very sad she got knocked up.

Ramon Hernandez that high? I drafted him and Towles, but cut Hernandez yesterday. What are your projections on Ramon?

Here’s the thing – I view that tier (6-9) as all roughly equals. Tough to separate. I probably rank Hernandez slightly higher than most, and here’s why:

He’s just one year removed from a .275-23-91 season.

    Has very good plate discipline.

Nagging injuries are at least partially responsible for last year’s decline.

He showed up to camp in much better shape this year.

I could see him hit .270-20-78 this year.

But if Towles gets the full-time gig, he’s more interesting than Hernandez. I’d certainly prefer him in a keeper format. More potential for a big year this season too.

I was going to comment that, but did not. I have Ramon below next tier, in a tier of his own. Would rather have Kenji or Molina any day. Safer.

I think McCann has a phenomenal year this year and hits .300 25 hr 90 runs 100 rbi. I think he is the best catcher by the end of the year. I think Vmart takes a step back and I think Mauer remains much of the same…maybe a little higher average but the power is still lacking and he misses at least a month for some random injury.

I hope so – McCann is one of my main targets this year.

In my league with hits as a category, if I don’t get a top catcher I’m probably gonna draft the A’s Suzuki with a last round pick just for the Tokyo series and then drop him for someone else.

    Sound right?

Sounds good to me. Even if it’s a league with a 162-game cap, it’s extremely difficult to reach that maximum with catchers. Might as well go with Suzuki there.
