I was just assuming L. Maroney wasn’t playing with these rankings, but there’s actually a decent chance he suits up – if so, put him around 10th.

Been waitin’ for these, danke! Just one thing, though–Crayton’s on a nice little roll, shouldn’t he strafe the atrocious Vikings’ D? I was definitely planning on running him out there over Mason this week, due in part to Mason’s nicked-up condition, but more because of Crayton’s greater explosion and likelihood of getting into the end zone. I am decimated by byes this week, losing Tomlinson, Steve Smith and the option of running my Carolina banks, plus I appear to have lost Watson, and Boldin is only just coming back from injury and may have to deal with Rattail at the helm, and I face another monster squad in a pivotal matchup this week….so my lineup decisions carry so much more weight than normal. I was feeling pretty secure with Crayton, but this has me thinking twice…..any chance you can offer just a brief couple of sentences why you’re not feeling him this week?

Well, I don’t have Crayton THAT low – and it was more due to the fact of really liking the 21 options above him than anything wrong with Crayton, who has def. been getting it done of late. I just expect a big game from Owens (he’s due, been clamoring for the ball) and Witten too, so that leaves Crayton as the No. 3 option on a team likely to be ahead. Still, Minny’s run D is so tough and secondary so bad, there should be plenty to go around, and as you mentioned, Crayton is quite explosive. If your league isn’t PPR – then I would actually rank Crayton ahead of D. Mason (leads the NFL in catches but lacks huge upside/game-breaking ability).

    DDD….

This is a trade i have working, and has been verbally agreed to. I think it’s an awesome trade for me, but want to make sure i’m not crazy… (also remembering the return yards in my league)

    I give up:
    Dante Hall
    Rueben Droughns
    Jeff Garcia
    Tony Gonzales

    I get:
    Brian Westbrook
    Matt Schaub
    Owen Daniels

I gotta think this is a no brainer, and i’m going to put it through, asap, but just wanted to get a second opinion…

    thx as always,
also, i put my email address in the thing here, had some ideas for you if you’re interested

where should i go for good injury report updates?

Definitely a no-brainer. I get that Hall and Droughns are worth a lot more in this league than most, but still, I consider Westbrook a top-5 back, Daniels a solid TE (not a huge downgrade from Tony G. last week’s big game notwithstanding) and Schaub is very serviceable and will be QB1 material once Andre Johnson returns. You robbed this guy blind.

I agree, Crayton should be rated better than Mason this week. Crayton has 4 TDs in last 3 games and going against MINN with the worst passing defence. Even in a PPR league I think I would rather have 3 catches, 50 yards and a TD rather than 7 or 8 catches, 60 yards and no TD.

Mason was doing well with McNair since hes been playing with him since the Tennessee days, but Boller is the QB now. I would not be surprised if Mark Clayton has a better game than Mason with 3 catches and 80 yards and a TD since Boller is better than McNair with the longer passes.

Mason had 79 yards with Boller starting last week, but I agree his superior arm strength benefits Mark Clayton, although I’ll have to see with him first before I believe it at this point.

The Bills have allowed 7.6 YPA and nine TDs through the air this season….The Vikings have allowed 7.4 YPA and eight passing scores (in the same # of games), so I’d argue the Bills actually have the worst pass defense.

That said, I agree Crayton has more upside (explosiveness), so I’m fine with making that change.

Minn is last with 288 passing yards allowed/game but Buffalo is second last at 287 yards so there is no difference really. I am actually starting Crayton over M. Harrison in one league with Owens and Curtis as my other receivers.

I like looking at YPA over total yards allowed because examining a squad on a per play basis is a better reflection of true talent as opposed to situational influences – i.e. teams pass on Minny more simply b/c they can’t run the ball. That said, those influences typically go week to week – i.e. people said Oakland actually had a decent run D last year b/c their YPC against was very solid, but b/c their offense was so bad, opposing teams were always running the ball during the second half, so despite that decent YPC, they were a fantastic start for your fantasy RB b/c of this trend – which basically goes against my YPA theory.

Anyway, the bottom line is Mason is more safe – five of six games this year with at least 75 yards receiving. And Crayton has more risk/reward – better chance of a TD but four of six games this year with 51 yards or fewer.

Again, the more I think about it, the more I’m siding toward Crayton as well – and I applaud thinking outside the box and playing him over the bigger named, yet gimpy M. Harrison, who has a very difficult matchup anyway.

……..And that’s why Mason was the safer play. Believe me, I wish I was wrong.
