Glad to see you talking about the Davis grad (JT) in Detroit…and nice to see you pimping yourself out all over the place.

Since I know you’re dying to see the results for my drafts this weekend, I’ll indulge you:

    (.5 PPR, 12 teams)
    QB Kitna
    RB Addai
    RB Brandon Jacobs
    RB/WR Portis
    WR Lee Evans
    WR Reggie Brown
    WR DJ Hackett
    BE Adrian Peterson
    BE Ladell Betts
    BE LenDale White
    BE Leon Washington
    BE Brandon Marshall

Portis fell to the 3rd, otherwise I wouldn’t have taken him…Evans in 4th, and Peterson in 5th I felt really lucky to get (there were some rookies), and having Portis made me more anxious to grab Betts in the 6th. Was Washington’s TD on the first play last night sick or what? If I were a Thomas Jones owner, I’d be worried. I’m thin at WR, so I figure I might try and move Portis, since I’d feel pretty good about plugging in Peterson if I need. Pretty good depth, but I think it’s going to be tough to set the lineup every week. What do you think?

Keith – I didn’t even know that about O’Sullivan – nice…..You are stacked. Although no backup QB? That’s def. a position to play matchups with, although Kitna could be a monster. You know I’m super high on Peterson, so I’m all for shopping Portis. Maybe he’ll get off to a fast start, then move him…Of course, I’m also big on Addai, Jacobs, Evans and Reggie Brown, so I’m inclined to say you’re going to win your league. Leon Washington is the truth….Having difficulty setting your lineup weekly is always a good problem to have.

I have a hard time taking backups when I find really good value RB’s or WR’s still on the board. I’m hoping I can do a deal early in the season to pick up a QB2 or a 2:1 to open a roster spot…how many weeks until byes?

I ended up with the #2 pick in my next draft, with 1 PPR, and I actually was disappointed. I’d actually really love to have picked in the 8-12 spots this year, as I think you can easily end up with 2 solid RB 1’s, and either a good 3rd RB for flex, or 2 very good WR’s. I did manage to pair up Ocho Cinco and Reggie Wayne with S-Jax, so I think that makes a pretty good top-3, but I’m stuck with LenDale White and DeAngelo Williams as my RB2 and 3 (missed Peterson by 1 pick…I think that’s the angriest I’ve been in a draft!). I did get Leon Washington again, but I was hoping for Betts and missed him. Calvin Johnson was my #3, though I probably would have taken Brayln Edwards over him if he was still available (you took CJ with Braylon on the board, and I thought you were high on him?). So, I ended up with:
    QB – Romo
    RB – SJax
    RB – DeAngelo Williams
    RB/WR – LenDale White
    WR – Chad Johnson
    WR – Reggie Wayne
    WR – Calvin Johnson
BN – Mark Clayton (love him as a 4th WR)
BN – Leon Washington (I’ve got my Thomas Jones voodoo doll out)
BN – Mike Bell (he or Sapp is going to have serious value; Sapp is an FA now)
BN – Wes Welker (PPR gold)
BN – Alex Smith (needed backup QB, and he was the best left in next to last round).

I think this team is pretty solid in the PPR format, but I’m just used to having more stability at the RB positions.

I think the bye weeks start around week 4? Def. a solid top-3 there, and I see Calvin and Braylon has really close in value – I rank em neck and neck. If I had to do it over again, I might go Edwards – I’d say he is the safer of the two, with also a little less upside. But in our draft, the fact Edwards went a full round later, he turned out to easily be the better value.

I also love Clayton as a WR4, and deg. agree Bell and Washington are two of the better backup RBs to target this year. Although my boy Henry is going to be huge!

I’ll be honest tho, I have no faith in LenDale White.

As always, thanks for the review…but seriously, you have faith in Chris Brown? I just don’t see any way that LenDale doesn’t start or get the bulk of the work for at least 10 games. I still prefer him as an RB4 to an RB3/Flex though. I’m pretty darn sure he’ll bring a good return on the investment if he’s taken 8th round or later. At least I hope so!

I’m very curious to see how Edwards vs. CJ will play out…they’re two guys I flip-flop on as far as value, so obviously if one goes a full round later than the other, you’re getting a great deal. I’ve been disappointed to not land Gore, Henry, Bush, MJD or Edwards in any of my drafts…I hate not getting the guys I target!

And I’m pissed that Yi finally signed with the Bucks. I was convinced there was some back alley politics going on to get him in to GState to start some serious hysteria. $50 mil for K-Mart?

Good point – I have no faith in Chris Brown either. Tenn has a very underrated O-line also. When I did the RB writeups for the RotoWire mag, I put way too much faith into workout wonder Chris Henry. Ugh.

Ya I know what you mean about not landing your targets, that’s why auctions can sometimes be the better route – although I do almost all drafts. I went with my boy MJD in quite a few leagues, so I hope he backs up all my talk.

I’m surprised about Yi too. My favorite part about the K-Mart signing was when Tony Kornhesier said he’s never even heard of him on PTI today. But ya, a lot of money there.
