Randy – I like S. Drew a good amount, and I’ve actually always really been a fan of Kelly Johnson (he’s a Chipper Jones clone in the batter’s box), but where he will play is pretty up in the air at the moment. I think he’s got to be given the opportunity for a full-time job, and with M. Giles now gone, 2nd base is an option (and would up his fantasy value). That said, he’s the least valuable of all of the other names on your list but an excellent sleeper.

Billingsley probably needs another year of seasoning, but he’s going to be a stud. You probably have to like Gordon the most here, though, who is even more valuable than Mags at this point. Gordon is going to win the third base job in spring training and pretty much immediately be valuable.

Also Randy – how about T-Mac going down already? I should’ve stuck with my original stance on him. Although Felton hasn’t lived quite up to expectations, you’ve got to like that deal you pulled off.

Ron Dayne, the man to (hopefully) lead me to the fantasy football promised land (3rd place). I think I’m going to be ill.

I’m not sure I’ll ever be able to draft Addai, T.Bell or Vick (unless he becomes RB-elligible) again.

Felton’s been disappointing so far, but I still think he’ll be money by the end of the season.

I can’t decide if I want the 49ers to make the playoffs or not. If they do, it will be both a travesty and a miracle, and a first-round shellacking. Regardless, I think they’ll be interesting next year, and I can hopefully get myself to be genuinely interested once again.

I still think the A’s need to add another bat…I’m hoping they can trade Blanton for a young OF, preferably one who could man CF. Man, I’m ready for baseball.

    Ron Dayne – Insanity.

I would stay away from T. Bell and still think Denver spends a 1st round pick on a RB this year, but I wouldn’t give up hope on Addai just yet, although I’m as frustrated as you are.

I think Felton will be money also.

The 49ers will be an intersting team next year, especially with Seattle seemingly on the decline. It’s going to be tough to make the playoffs with a Week 17 tilt in Denver tho.

I’m more than ready for baseball, and think that Piazza signing was surprisingly solid. He won’t do what Big Hurt did last year, but he’s much more likely to stay healthy at DH and still has some pop in that bat…..They better not give up Harden (which rumors are floating), no matter how injury-prone he is, but Blanton for a bat (Milledge?) would be nice. At least they didn’t overpay for Payton, and is Crosby ever going to play in 120 games? Has Chavez already peaked? Can’t they open the new stadium this year? How does Migual Batista get signed for so much?

Thanks to this year’s free agent insanity, the Loaiza signing actually looks pretty good, and I think he can be a decent 3rd-4th starter (with #2 potential if everything falls into place). I like Blanton, but his upside is very limited, and I think they need to move him as I’m not excited about too many of the A’s farm system right now. It makes no sense to move Harden right now, unless you get a bounty in return, and who would do that with his injury history? I wish Ellis could play SS, because it would be easier to find a replacement 2B (Giles, Cantu, Loretta, etc)…as much as I’d love for Crosby to stay healthy, he still hasn’t really shown enough improvement to get me excited. He has crazy potential, but doesn’t seem to have the discipline, patience or work ethic to reach it. I hope I’m wrong, but I just don’t see it happening. I liked the Piazza signing too, and think he can have a mini-resurgence playing as a DH.

My basketball coverage so far as been weak, and I’m going to change that real soon. I’m out of town this week, but with football winding down anyway, I’ll def. get some b-ball articles up soon.

I couldn’t believe how good Loaiza was during that stretch last year, he def. looks reasonable as of now. (I was skeptical since he was most successful while pitching in RFK)….What are your thoughts on Daric Barton? Ellis CAN play SS, can’t he? I guess his arm would be weak for a SS, but he def has the range, right? I agree, at this point, Crosby doesn’t deserve the benefit of the doubt. I think Dan Johnson could be key, and still think he has real solid potential.

Looks like the A’s are going to sign Durazo, which I think is another fantastic no-risk move that could definitely pay off. Ellis has the range to play SS for sure. In that regards, I think he’d be well above average. It’s the injuries to his shoulder that are the problem. If he was physically able to do it, I think we would have seen him make an appearance over there already (I even think he might have started as a SS). I like Barton a lot, but I definitely think he is somebody that could be traded. Solid OBP guys are great, but there are still questions about whether he can play 1B (I wish they would have kept him at catcher where his bat would be 10x more valuable), and his power hasn’t shown at all yet. He’s young enough that it still definitely could, but obviously his value is somewhat limited if he’s just a high OBP, gap-hitting DH. I too keep hoping for a DJ breakout, but I just don’t know if it will happen. It’s looking like there’s going to be a big shuffle between 1B/DH this year.

Why other teams didn’t gamble on Durazo is beyond me. Actually, it’s not even a gamble at that price. Seattle trades for Vidro to DH? Just awful. Not sure with DJ there if Durazo fits, but it’s def. a good move. He’s a year removed from surgery and can still rake. They def. have plenty of DH/1B options now.
