I have no idea what to do with Tatum Bell at this point. I could see Mike getting more work this week too. I hate Shanahan

Do I start Caldwell against GB, Bryant against Seattle or Berrian (if he actually plays) against the Jets? Caldwell seems like a good play this week but you have him rated pretty low. I realize that Brady likes to throw to 10 guys every week but Caldwell looked pretty good lately and GB’s defense is pretty pathetic against the pass. Bryant has just been awful and with Bradley back healthy it would seem that he woudl take some receptions from Berrian who wasn’t playing all that well the last couple of weeks before he got hurt anyhow.

I rated Bryant last of the three, so throw him out. I like his matchup and ability, but he’s disappointed since Week 3. I like Berrian if healthy, but he’s someone you’ve got to keep checking on throughout the week; the fact he was originally estimated to be out 2-4 weeks suggests he might not be 100 percent this week….If he says he’s healthy and ready to go, I’d have a hard time benching him…If not, go with Caldwell, who seems to be Brady’s favorite target at the moment. He could be sneaky useful for the 2nd half of the season.

As for T. Bell….Your guess is as good as mine…He’s still the guy to own of all Denver backs, but I think his turf toe is still an issue. My guess is Mike Bell becomes relevant again. Then my main man Cedric Cobbs….Honestly, you’ve got to stick w/ T Bell at this point and hope he gets healthy for weeks 14-16.

I’m still ticked they played Tatum last week. If only they had just let him rest…ugh. I’m with you though Roto, just hoping he’ll be money if I can sneak into the playoffs.

I picked up Matt Jones, but instead of dropping Caldwell like I was planning on, dropped Gabriel. I hate playing guessing-games with NE; when they should have run 45 times against Indy, they pass. When Gabriel should clearly be their #1 WR, they stop throwing to him, bench him after 1 fumble, and start throwing to a scrub. Hopefully Evans makes all that moot, but it’s annoying nonetheless. The Jax WR situation seems interesting, as they’re supposedly having basically open tryouts for playing time at the WR spot this week. Personally, I think Garrard hurts all their numbers, but hopefully someone can emerge.

Keith – I agree with you on all fronts…Tatum Bell should have rested last week. It’s no sure thing, but it really does appear that Caldwell is the NE WR to own as of now. I do think Evans makes it moot, but Losman is definitely one of the bottom-5 QBs in the league right now. I think Garrard hurts the WRs also, but it’s not like Leftwich was accurate. Matt Jones is still the WR their w/ the biggest upside.

Jones might have upside but he I wont be waiting for it…and I seriously wont draft a jax wr just like I wont draft a denver rb. Sure it might suck to miss out on a great player but Ill let someone else have that headache.

I hear ya TV. At some point that “upside” has got to translate onto the field with production. I was always iffy about M. Jones when all the draft pundits were drooling about his peripherals. That said, he’s shown flashes in the NFL, and is the most likely Jax WR to have value, and least one of them has to, right? Right?

I wouldn’t keep that Denver theory in concrete, because I think Shanahan bucks his trend and drafts a RB early in the draft next year. I want whoever that is.

It would have been really interesting to see what would have happened if Maroney had been drafted by Denver (though I think they’ll be using that QB pick sooner rather than later) and was “the guy” full-time (though I’m sure Tatum would have still had his role). I think he would have gone nuts. Instead, Maroney gets to watch Dillon take longer on his 50 yard run than a Kenyan in a marathon.

I saw parts of some Jags games last year, and Matt Jones looked good, made some great catches, and showed enough ability AND performance for me to think “sleeper” going into this year. I mean, he had decent production despite never having been a WR before, and was an athletic freak. In each of my leagues, he ended up going higher than I was comfortable drafting him, but I still cursed under my breath every time someone took him before me. In hindsight…I’m glad. Of course, I was doing cartwheels when Lamont Jordan dropped to me with the 13th pick, so what the hell do I know.

On a completely unrelated note: Baron Davis looked sick last night. The Warriors/Kings game was one of the most entertaining I’ve seen in a long time. If BD stays healthy, he can turn Pietrus into a star, and Biedrins shouldn’t be far behind (I did want to see him finish the year shooting 80% from the floor and 40% from the line though). I hope Troy Murhpy comes off the bench (with Dunleavy…if he doesn’t somehow turn into Maggette), as the Warriors have shown they’re 10x better when going small and athletic. Kevin Martin looks legit too. The Villanueva and Kirilenko injuries have me pretty ticked off…especially in a league with only 2 bench spots.

Would have loved to see what Maroney could do in Denver’s system…Haha Dillon. Did you know that was the first NE 50-yard run in the entire Belichick era? Crazy.

Baron Davis was ridiculous last night. 11 dimes after the first quarter?! I would love to see what this team could do if he stays healthy. He’s even shooting his free throws well…M. Bibby is one of the worst defenders in the league, but Davis made him look especially pathetic. He could basically get by him at will…..Def. a great game….Biedrins looks like Nellie’s guy; now, they need to somehow dump Foyle’s contract…I’m sad to say I think that 1-hand free throw I caught earlier this year was a one time thing tho, b/c I’ve yet to see it again.

I picked up Kevin Martin and he’s def. one of my 10-best players already. He is going to average 22-24 ppg this year. Doesn’t matter how ugly his shot is….Speaking of injuries, I debated back and forth during my draft if I wanted Shaq or Okafor… I went Shaq. He’s now out 4-6 weeks and Okafor has been a top-10 player so far. Frustrating.

I WISH SOMEONE IN THE BRONCO’S ORGANIZATION COULD TELL US WHY CEDRIC COBBS IS NOT STARTING. I’VE HEARD NOTHING LOGICAL FROM ALL THE ARM CHAIR COACHES THAT MAKES ANY SENSE. THE DING DONG DUO SIMPLY DOES NOT HAVE THE OVERALL SPEED/POWER GIFTS COBBS POSSESSES. HE COULD START FOR LOTS OF TEAMS IN THE LEAGUE AND SOME TEAMS HAVE ACTUALLY LET IT BE KNOWN THEY WOULD LIKE TO HAVE HIM. I TRULY BELIEVE SHANAHAN HAS BEEN THROWING THE DICE ALL YEAR LONG, AS THE QUARTERBACK FIASCO CLEARLY PROVES. I SAY IF YOUR NOT GOING TO START COBBS, GIVE HIM UP TO A TEAM THAT CAN APPRECIATE THE AMAZING TALENT HE HAS TO OFFER THIS LEAGUE. IT’S A CRYING SHAME TO KEEP A PUREBRED LOCKED AWAY IN THE STABLES. HE WAS BORN TO RUN AND SOMEDAY WE’LL ALL SEE IT. BUT NOT AT DENVER.

I’ve held onto to Cobbs all year long in one deep league in hopes he did get his chance, but as you suggest, it doesn’t look like Shanny wants to give it to him. He even gave carries to Damien Nash over him.
