Playoffs?!

Thursday, November 2nd, 2006

By Robby Wellington – Staff Writer

If you’re in the enviable position of sitting atop, or close to the top, of your league right now, then you should have one thing and one thing only on your mind – the playoffs. Below are six teams who benefit from favorable schedules in weeks 14-16. Trade accordingly…

(Note: Defense rankings are based on Football Outsiders DVOA system)

Passing

1. The Colts (@Jax, Cin, @Hou) – While @Jax (4th against the pass) is as brutal as it gets, if your playoffs are only weeks 15 and 16 then Peyton, Marvin and Reggie all look pretty attractive. Houston is dead last against the pass.

2. The Packers (@SF, Det, Min) – Meanwhile, if your league’s playoffs start in week 14, check out Favre, Driver and Jennings, as SF and Det rank 29 and 30, respectively, against the pass.

Rushing

1. The Texans (Tenn, @NE, Indy) – Wali Lundy should be a viable fantasy start in weeks 14 and 16, as he takes on the 29th and 30th ranked rushing defenses.

2. The Seahawks (@Ariz, SF, SD) – Look for Shaun Alexander to actually be a valuable commodity come fantasy playoff time. Now may be the time to pry him away from his struggling, desperate owner.

Passing and Rushing

1. The Bills (@NYJ, Mia, Tenn) – Aside from Miami’s surprising #5 adjusted rank against the run, the Bills three opponents rank no higher than 25 in both rushing and passing defense, giving Buffalo the best fantasy playoff schedule of any team in the league. Do whatever it takes to acquire JP Losman!

2. The Vikings (@Det, NYJ, @GB) – The Vikings get three very weak defenses in weeks 14-16.
