Bledsoe over Palmer this week? I don’t think I have the heart to do that. I have that choice in a standard Yahoo league this week, and I intend to play Palmer. (unless of course you know something i don’t) Albeit, Dallas home against Houston, but Bledsoe looked awful last week.

Chad – I really don’t see a huge difference between 2-7 in the QB rankings this week, and used the tiers to show as much. TB really has been bad defensively this year, but more so against the run. Still, Palmer can beat any defense, and he easily could be ranked No. 2.

I do think Bledsoe will put up a big game this week, however, and hopefully Houston’s offense keeps them in the game enough so Dallas doesn’t only run the ball during the second half. It’s a close call, but I wouldn’t fault you even a little bit for going Palmer over him.

I have 0 rb this week. Everyone in my league is trying to rob me thinking Ill make a silly trade just to get one guy for this week. Alexander is hurt, Addai is on a bye, Dillon is on a bye, Williams is hurt and out now as well.

Do I drop Moulds or M. Jones and pick up a guy like Musa Smith? That is probably the best option of guys on the ww. Others include Pittman, Mack Strong, or Hicks. That is how bad it is.

tv – I say go ahead and drop Moulds for Musa Smith…..I wouldn’t expect a whole lot, but I do think his carries are only going to start increasing, and it’s not like Carolina’s D has been all that impressive. I know M. Jones has been worthless lately, but I still think he has more potential this year than Moulds.

I think it will be Palmer, unless other news arrives. If nothing else, by me picking Palmer, probably increases your chances of being right.

White and Henry at the same spot…it doesn’t quite look like a committe yet, isn’t Henry still supposed to be starting? I’m hoping Lendale takes over after the bye, but I’m not counting on him for too much this week…and I have to use him this week as a flex because I didn’t want to drop any decent WR’s for Morris since I think this will be his only decent week.

Furrey doesn’t crack the top 36? He had kind of a down week last time, but still got the looks…I think he’ll make a decent WR3. I grabbed Bryant Johnson too – I don’t expect much against the Bears, but he sould be pretty money for a couple weeks after that, and I’ll need him if Gabriel puts up any more stinkers! I really need to get Branch to get comfortable with the Seattle offense so he can be a decent WR2 and I’m not left gambling with my WR’s so much!

I like the rankings though. Santana Moss isn’t a guy I’d put in the top 10 too often just because I don’t trust Brunell at all, and he pretty much has to turn a short pass into a long play for big points. I also hope Caddy can come up with another good week.

Keith – Def. go Henry over White, when I made this list Henry’s ankle injury was a bit of a mystery, but it apparently is nothing at all….Consider Furrey No. 37, although I was rather surprised to see Az-Zahir Hakim become the main guy once Roy Williams went down. Roy is expected to play this week, but Furrey does get targeted plenty and Buff hasn’t been all that great against the pass…….I actually really like the Bryant Johnson pick up, after this week, he should be startable for at least 2 weeks….Word out of Seattle is that w/ J. Stevens back there will be fewer 4-WR sets; also Engram is hurting, so maybe there’s hope for Branch after all…..Santana Moss is probably a top-3 talent at wideout as far as real football goes, but Brunell absolutely kills him…..I think Caddy builds off last week with another strong performance, although TB might be playing from behind too much.

    Another Sit/Start question:

I’m leaning towards a WR over a RB for my W/R position this week. And I know that’s typically a no-no, but obviously you have to draw the line somewhere.

Both guys are question marks, Leon Washington and Wes Welker. Right now I lean towards Welker, because he should start this week, and get some looks, and Since Barlow is practiing and is listed as probable this week, i have a feeling Washington won’t put up 100 rushing yards like he did last week.

    Any thoughts?

Supposedly, rookie Derek Hagan may start over Welker this week, but that’s just b/c Welker makes more sense out of the slot-I wouldn’t let that influence my decision at all – Welker is likely to get plenty of targets. Basically, I think Welker is the safer play but Washington has more upside. But there’s really no way of predicting how the carries will be divvied up in NY, so I agree, go with Welker.

Why the jets would start barlow over washington is beyond me. It doesnt take a rocket scientist to see that washington is already the player that barlow never was and he doesnt cry nearly as much from what I have heard.

Id start welker over washington this week too.

Couldn’t agree with you more tv. Listen, Barlow showed flashes and looked good for a brief period with the 49ers in 2003, but he hasn’t broken a tackle since. The guy runs literally looking for a reason to go down. Why not see what you have in Washington fully, and give the kid a chance?

After firing a ton of offers out there, I got Winslow for Moss, and T.O. for Thomas Jones…not my #1 targets out there, but in a shallow league with deep benches, it was tough to find trading partners whose needs complemented my own…how did I fare?

Go Harden! I’m not pleased with the 1:30 start time though…and the thought of snow during a baseball game cracks me up, it’ll make the Metrodome roof seem grand in retrospect!

  13. RotoScoop Avatar
    RotoScoop

As crazy as it sounds, I think you did well getting Winslow for Moss…TEs were supposed to be the rage of the NFL nowadays, but all have been rather unproductive so far. Winslow has not only been the best, it figures that he’s only going to get better, and with that running game and defense, he should be receiving plenty of targets – I like it.

I’m telling you, T.O.’s fantasy value will never be lower than right now. Sure, he’s always a risk and is on the downside of his career, but he’s going to start producing soon. While I’m a Thomas Jones fan, considering your situation with a plethora of solid RB options, I appluad this move as well.

I’m going to be depressed if the A’s don’t win today. I decided not to get my hopes up this year, and then they go and finally win a playoff series and face a beatable team in the ALCS, and again disappoint. At least make a series out of it.

Thanks for the validation! I mean, I overpaid, but if you can afford to overpay from a position of strength (and really, I just wanted to get rid of Moss) and come away with a better-rounded team, it certainly seems worth it.

The A’s look done…down 3-0 in the 8th, and really not having looked good at all. I really, really hate Kenny Rogers…ugh, this sucks. Well…at least this is looking like it’s going to save me some money.

Ridiculously disappointing. The subtraction of Mark Ellis’ glove cannot be understated. Although obviously it was their offense that’s the major problem. Speaking of, at least Kielty got an at-bat, too bad it came against a righty when his splits are .229/.308/.314 vs. righties and .325/.358/.607 vs. lefties. Has someone told Frank Thomas this series has started? It’s about to be finished.

  16. Keith Avatar
    Keith

I’m still waiting for Kielty to give up hitting lefty…he’s been awful against righties for a long time. Did you see Kotsay’s back-to-back catches last night with a runner on 2nd? As much as I want to see Kielty’s bat in there sometimes (not when it’s just going to mean getting the starter pulled and facing a righty!!), watching Kotsay make plays like that does make me realize how tough it could be to sit him…especially in an outfield as spacious as that one. A’s actually have an early lead on Saturday…maybe they’ll make this interesting yet.

In a 14-team league, I was going to be playing Lendale White as my flex thanks to byes…now it’s looking pretty likely he ain’t going to play…I think my best sub choices are Musa Smith and Brandon Jacobs. DeAngelo Williams is also on the waiver wire, but I don’t think he’s going to be starting any time soon. To pick anyone up, I’m going to have to drop either L. White, Bryant Johnson, Doug Gabriel or Furrey…nobody I really want to lose. I’m leaning towards Musa since it seems like there are rumblings about Jamal Lewis getting benched…but I have no idea how many touches he might get this week…I do get .5pts/reception, so as a 3rd down back that should help some, but who do you think I should drop? Especially since thanks to byes again next week, I was going to have to start both Furrey and Johnson (Musa and White have byes next week too? Damn…I’m not going to be able to fill out my roster!).

  17. Keith Avatar
    Keith

Oh…and I am starting either Furrey or Johnson this week too. I tell you, 14-team leagues with 3WR/2RB/1flex and shallow rosters (4 bench) are hard with these 2 loaded bye weeks!

  18. RotoScoop Avatar
    RotoScoop

Ya I hear you about Kotsay’s glove….That lead is 3-3 now, and I don’t have a great feeling about this.

What a tough call with football….on one hand, I like Furrey better this week, but then I like Johnson more the next 2 weeks after that…..LenDale White def. looks unlikely to play at this point, so ya, count him out….While I agree Musa is probably more likely to get more touches than B. Jacobs, I think it’s Jacobs who’s more likely to score….Also, I could def. see Smith getting more involved in the future since Lewis has been worthless, but he’ll be sharing time with Lewis and Mike Anderson as well…..If Tiki were to go down, Jacobs is a top-8 back in my eyes…If I had the choice of owning one from here on out, I would choose Jacobs…but I certainly can’t promise he’ll score more than Musa Smith this week, especially since you’ll be counting on a goal-line carry (which he does typically get, if applicable).

Additionally, once your bye weeks are gone, I strongly suggesst you grab and stash DeAngelo Williams; again, there’s some big upside there. But for now, obviously your roster spots are too limited. Despite Larry Fitzgerald saying he feels better, if you think you’ll lose Bryant Johnson next week if you drop him, I’d suggest going with him this week (and next) and dropping Furrey….Then again if you need both those WRs next week and no even decent options are on the waiver wire, you might have to bite the bullet and drop White…But can’t you start Gabriel, Johnson and one of your WRs on a bye this week next week?

Although I have to say in general Macha is getting outmanaged this series, I love his move of bringing in Street in the seventh inning w/ the bases loaded and 1 out. I know it’s completely logical to use your best reliever with your season on the line in such a spot, but so many managers wouldn’t do so.

Too bad Frank Thomas blows. The A’s love grounding into DPs.

  20. Keith Avatar

I’ve got Holt as my other WR, who’s also on bye next week, as is Gore, and Bulger, and Heap, and Gould, and White…so I’ll be scrambling then too, but I’ll be starting Jordan and Addai at RB, and will need 4 WR to fill my 3 WR and flex spots. The one advantage I do have is that I’ve got the #1 waiver spot, so I really could drop just about anyone and get them back, but I was hoping to hold onto it for a little while longer. Thanks for the advice…I’m definitely torn on this one. Bad time for the flu!

I called the Maggs HR as soon as he came up…not that it was Street’s fault, and I also applaud bringing him in when they did. Not nearly enough managers choose to use their best relievers in the most critical situations. Detroit’s just another team of destiny this year!

You know, rather than making a panic move, I can just put Johnson in at my flex rather than an RB…I don’t think he’s a great play by any means, but I’m not sure he’s any worse than Musa or Jacobs. I can hopefully pick up DeAngelo sometime soon, because I do like him a lot for the latter part of the season.

Man my team is just awful. I got negative points from Musa b/c of his fumble and then KC’s defense has been lit up through the first half to give me a negative 5 points too. 7 points gone and the KC game isnt even over yet!

Also, Chad Johnson couldnt have fallen down for another yard to get 100 yards receiving to at least give me the 4 bonus points eh? What a disappointment he and really the whole Cincinatti offense other than Housh have been.

I guess I have to hope for a 50 point night from Boldin and Berrian tomorrow to have any shot of winning this week’s game…lol sure that is going to happen.

Ya Cincy and Chad Johnson have been pretty big disappointments up to this point….Falling 1 yard short of a 4-point bonus is rough.

Keith – Hopefully you decided not to go with Musa…..That T.O. trade looks pretty good right about now.
